It's Elul - The Time Is Now

The Navi in Chagai starts off with a gevaldik mussar for Am Yisrael.

He says, that Am Yisrael says, "it’s not yet the time for the house of Hashem to be rebuilt."

So Chagai HaNavi responds with a very sharp statement saying, "So to sit in your own fancy homes, it is the time for, while HaShem’s house lies in ruins, it’s not the time for?!"

Chazal say that there were many hundreds of thousands of Nevi’im throughout the history of Am Yisrael, but the only ones that were written down were the ones that were applicable for further generations.

And what generation in history is more relevant than ours for Chagai's message?!

People walk around saying, “It’s not yet time to build the Beit HaMikdash.”

But is it really the time to sit in your fancy homes while Hashem’s house is in ruins?!

Rabosai, it's Rosh Chodesh Elul, this is the very time when Chagai HaNavi gave his Nevu’ah.

Let us take this opportunity.

Let’s get together and come up to the mountain.

Like the Navi says, "Let's bring wood and build Me a house."

And with that may we be written in the book of good and have a good year for us and all of Am Yisrael!
