Before visiting Har Habayis one must immerse in a Mikvah that is Kosher M’Doryasa (Biblically Kosher). Many men's Mikvahs are only good for what's called “Tvillas Ezra” however they are not sufficiently Kosher for Tvillah D’Oryasa. This immersion should take place the morning of your visit.
One must make sure to have no Chatzitza during the Tvillah, which includes bandaids, contact lenses, watches, rings etc. One should cut finger & toenails, take a shower, brush your teeth, comb your hair with a comb, blow your nose, remove any scabs (that won't hurt) or dead skin, and perform a general look over your body to make sure no dirt, paint etc.
If one has had any seminal emission since last Tvillah, then a Bracha should be recited right before immersing while standing in the water with your hands folded over your chest.
The bracha is ברוך... אשר קדשנו במצוותיו וציוונו על הטבילה.
One may not wear leather shoes on Har Habayis. You may bring slippers, etc with you, and deposit your shoes in the lockers right outside the entrance.
One should not wear a money pouch, fanny strap or backpack on Har Habayis.
Har Habayis is the Shaar Hashamayim and the most potent location in the world for Tefillah. There is usually a minyan daily during the morning and afternoon “Aliyot”.
