HaShem wants a relationship with us, and He was kind enough to say, "You know what? I want a relationship with you, and I'll even tell you how to do it."
We're so used to it all being about us.
Like, in my shul, we daven nusach X, and in our kiddush, we serve Y.
And like, I like a Chazanish davening, or I like a one-hour Shabbos morning davening.
There's a gazillion shuls today, because like, it's really, in a certain sense, all about us and how we do it.
And HaShem's like, "You want to have a real relationship with me? Let me show you exactly how to do it!"
There's only one way.
That's with the Sanhedrin, the Luchos, the Torah - it's all in that building!
Hashem created the universe.
He created so many laws.
The law of gravity, the strong nuclear force, the weak nuclear force. There's so many laws of nature. Science is an endless amount of laws.
HaShem said, "I created all these laws. Why? Only for one thing. So you, human beings, can exist. If one of these laws that I created and I sustain every single day would stop to exist, if gravity would stop to exist, no one can live anymore. So I'm here, supporting all these laws. I keep your laws all day, every day, just so you can exist."
Hashem says, "Do me a favor, just keep my laws. Make Me a Mikdash, give Me Karbanos. This is the halachos of the Karbanos. The same way I keep your laws so that you can exist amongst me, keep my laws so that I can exist amongst you."
That's all He is asking!
And we don't necessarily have to understand it.
Besides Hashem setting up for us how we can relate to Him, He's also doing us a favor and teaching us b'chlal, about relationships - You want to relate to someone, do what they need. Not because you understand it, just because this is what they need.
That's how you start having relationships, b'chlal.
